Watching You Watching Me

Urban life and the natural world converge as Tracy Ostmann Haschke creates larger-than-life birds that look steadily, sometimes humorously, at the viewer, with a gaze that she intends to be reminiscent of the momentary connection that we sometimes find when making eye contact with a passing stranger, leaving us with the sensation of having glimpsed another’s interior world. Whether playful or pensive, each painting strives to reflect the character, experiences, and perspective of each bird.
