My work is rooted in the expressive power of basic geometric shapes: circles, squares, and lines. The observation of the outside world and the unintentional shapes formed within it, inspire me. Through limiting my range of color, texture plays an important role, introducing organic subtlety into my work.

Annette Baksinskas (b.1954, Hanover, Germany) is a Chicago-based artist who was formally trained at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the late 1970s. Her work is influenced by the Suprematist art movement, taking inspiration from artists such as, Kazimir Malevich, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, and Ben Nicholson.
