I approach painting through abstraction and improvisation, intending to present a universal and timeless glimpse of the sublime. Each work becomes a wellspring of endless engagement, interpretation, mystery and drama, pulsating with life force.

Bruce Thorn (b.1952, Chicago, Illinois) earned a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1975, and an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1987.

A recipient of a Pollock-Krasner award, his work is in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Ukrainian Institute of Art, Chicago, the Roger Brown Study Collection, Chicago, and the Flaten Art Museum in Northfield, Minnesota.
