My paintings are about texture, gesture and the memories and feelings they evoke. I approach them with a sense of play, experimentation and my emotional response as they evolve. Mostly, I let them take me where they will. It is all about the process, becoming immersed in the moment, the physicality of engaging the surface, and finding a sense of order, refuge and letting go.

Kathy Blankley Roman (b.1945, Chicago, Illinois) is known for her expressive paintings that draw people in. Her award winning work has been exhibited nationally and is included in collections across the country. She is in the permanent collection of the Encaustic Art Institute in Santa Fe and has been published in the eBook, Abstract Art: How do they do that?
