I explore the boundaries between realism and abstraction in images of the natural world. From afar, my paintings appear realistic, sometimes photographic, but close up they become more about the texture of oil paint, gesture and process. My work is about focusing on nature and paying attention to the subtle interplay of light, color and pattern.
