Concentrating on the gestural physicality of painting, my paintings present a modern view of landscape painting with a nod to art history. I strive to push the work beyond ideas of traditional landscape. Teasing out the complex colors of nature, creating layers of contrast, line, and form; I hope to present the viewer with an expressive interpretation of our everyday landscape.

Nina Weiss (b.1959 Queens, New York) has been painting the landscape for over 40 years. She fell in love with landscape after moving from the East coast to the Midwest in 1980. Weiss has exhibited widely; including exhibitions at the New York Art Expo and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Chicago. Her work can be seen in John Hugh’s Just Visiting and Harold Ramis’s Ice Harvest and the television series Chicago Fire.
