My focus is on the spiritual aspect of light and how it creates depth in form and space. I am fascinated by light that breaks triumphantly over a wall, reflects color, and transitions around geometric shapes such as spheres and cubes. I play with the repetition of geometric shapes, which create patterns.

Sarah Kaiser-Amaral (b.1974, Cincinnati, Ohio) is a Chicago-based visual artist who has been honing her painting and drawing technique since her childhood. She has blended her passion for painting with her teaching career, and inspires her students. She has taught at the Evanston Art Center for over 10 years, and runs her own art school, Studio 215, at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center in Evanston, IL. Sarah’s evolution as an artist began after earning an MFA at the University of Chicago in 2003. Ever since, she has been exploring and pushing the boundaries of painting in her work.
