My art has been profoundly influenced by my participation as an artist on scientific expeditions to remote and biologically diverse ecosystems. From the Peruvian, Ecuadorian, and Brazilian Amazon, to unique local habitats, my art is fueled by my sense of wonder in nature. The inherent intelligence of plant life is a source of inspiration that is not only boundless but never loses its intrigue. Power to the plants: plants power the planet.
Sharon Bladholm (b.1958, Madison, Wisconsin) has pursued her artistic vision through the steady acquisition and command of a variety of disciplines, including cast glass, bronze, and sculptural ceramics, as well as printmaking and works on paper.
